About Us
It was the summer of 1953 and the start of what would become the “Hill’s Sunflower Seed Company.” Founded by Henry and Marie Hill in Lincoln, Nebraska because Henry, an employee of Goodyear Tire and Rubber company, was out on strike for three months and the company gave no financial support to its employees and families.
Start up of the business was not without problems. Many processing mistakes were made almost putting the small company out of business.
Marie continued to run the small family owned company until her death in 1994. It was then taken over by their daughter Sandra who expanded the product line to include half salt seeds and roasted unsalted seeds. Labeling and packaging has also been upgraded. Many of these changes have occurred through the help of the Food Strategy Program at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln.
One thing that has not changed is the excellent product and quality, a trademark for the past 46 years of operating a family owned business in Lincoln, Nebraska.
